As promised, some of the surrounding area at Moraine Lake.
There are quite a few paths leading to picnic tables & steps leading to multiple observation decks (surrounded by the stone ledges you can see us sitting on).
As I think I've mentioned before, it was very picturesque. The weather obscured some of the view, but had it's own loveliness too.
Here's a look at the stream I mentioned yesterday (with all the driftwood at the mouth):
There was a hiking trail that lead to 2 or 3 distant lakes. I wanted to go, but it was more than a couple kilometers, and we didn't really have the time.
That signs warns tourists to travel in groups no smaller than pairs for this trail.
It was a bit precarious.
The foliage, flora & lichen was all a little different from what I'm used to. Look at the bright orange & neon green lichen:
Sweet flowers that looked like nothing special from afar:
We even saw a cute ground squirrel (possibly a red-tailed chipmunk? not sure..) begging for grub lakeside:
All in all, we had a great time at Moraine Lake. I didn't want to go - I wanted to continue exploring! Next time....
Next up: Lake Louise!
